Programs and Initiatives

Main Street

In January 2021, DEA became a designated Main Street Community, joining 35 other Main Streets across Washington State. Washington Main Street helps communities revitalize the economy, appearance, and image of their downtown districts using the successful Main Street Approach, a comprehensive revitalization strategy built around a community’s unique heritage and attributes.

Flower Program

In 2020, the Downtown Everett Association expanded programming to include a Downtown Flower Program. The City of Everett announced that budget shortfalls forced them to cut its flower program in April 2020. Our board decided that the program was too important to downtown economic development to allow it to end. In May 2020, we launched a pilot flower program.

Each spring, community members plant flowers downtown, and volunteers maintain the plants over the summer. Community support is crucial to keeping the Downtown Flower Program growing and thriving – your volunteer hours ensure our flowers stay healthy all season long, and your financial contributions allow us to purchase plants from a local nursery each year.

Storefront Enhancement Grant

The Downtown Everett Storefront Enhancement Grant is intended to provide financial support to business and property owners who embark on projects to improve the appearance of their building facades, storefronts, and interiors with the aim of improving the district’s visibility, attractiveness, safety, and shopability.

Entrepreneur Education

Seminars and workshops focused on the needs of micro and small businesses in Everett.

Downtown Banners

The Downtown Everett Association’s volunteer-run Design Committee has worked diligently with DEI Creative and the City of Everett to develop new banners to activate our downtown district and display our community pride. Highlighting Downtown Everett’s proximity to both mountains and the waterfront, our banners reflect the vibrancy of our community.

Holiday Lighting

In November 2020, the Downtown Everett Association, in partnership with Downtown Everett Partners, launched a new holiday lighting program to add some “merry and bright” to our community. Eight lighted snowflakes were hung from the quadrangle above Hewitt & Colby, along with four lit wreaths. Another 10 snowflakes were added to the gooseneck streetlights along Colby Ave in 2021. With donations from our community, we hope to continue growing our holiday lighting program each year.
